You are skilled at writing, editing, and formatting digital news content. You enjoy being deployed in the field and thrive under the pressure of breaking news coverage.You have a solid understanding of the National Capital Region, are attuned to the issues that matter to people, and grasp the socio-economic dynamics of both sides of the Ottawa River. You also understand the importance of the public service sector in the region.You enjoy collaboration and innovation and are interested in creating content for other Radio-Canada platforms.The work adheres to Radio-Canada’s journalism and programming policies, standards, and practices.Please note that this is a part-time reporter position, with work on weekends. The successful candidate may be required to work overtime, and the schedule may change based on operational needs, such as shifts starting early in the morning or ending late at night.Responsibilities:Quickly write stories for breaking news coverage on digital platforms.Gather content in the field with a solid command of the necessary tools.Master storytelling and headline-writing techniques.Propose original story ideas and produce them for digital and news services.Conduct interviews for web content, write articles, and cut audio clips for radio.Format digital stories with the best photos, headlines, introductions, links, and other multimedia elements.Have a strong knowledge of various digital formats and best practices.Use content from other SRC/CBC platforms for digital services: write and format stories with striking headlines, photos, videos, audio content, and illustrations, while staying up to date with the latest audience insights and metrics.Occasionally produce reports, conversations, or live-to-tape segments for radio.Your profile:University degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications, or related fieldsThree (3) years of directly related experience demonstrating strong journalistic writing skills and knowledge of digital media and Radio-Canada’s broadcasting environmentSolid skills in interviewing, writing, and storytellingKnowledge of digital media, with the ability and willingness to innovate and explore new approachesUnderstanding of Radio-Canada’s mandate and journalistic policiesKnowledge and interest in the social, political, cultural, and economic life of Ottawa, the Outaouais, and Eastern OntarioFamiliarity with regional, provincial, and national general newsExcellent proficiency in French (spoken and written) and intermediate proficiency in English (reading, speaking, and writing)A valid driver’s licenseFamiliarity with production software (Scoop, iNews, Dalet, Mediacentral) used at Radio-Canada is an assetAbility to synthesize and organize information based on its relevanceStrong journalistic judgment, editorial choices, and decision-makingProven ability to learn and adapt to new technologiesSelf-reliance, resourcefulness, initiative, and creativityAttention to detail and journalistic rigorStrong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skillsCapacity to plan, organize, and coordinate daily tasks to meet tight deadlines and work under pressureBoldness, creativity, and curiosity in researching stories and newsWillingness to travel and work flexible hoursThe work takes place on-site, but the candidate must also be able to produce content directly in the fieldAn openness to feedback and a strong interest in digital desk work are requiredCandidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.CBC/Radio-Canada is committed to being a leader in reflecting our country’s diversity.
