Job Description: Vascular SurgeonPosition Description:The physician shall establish a comprehensive full-time community-based practice in general surgery and provide both inpatient and outpatient services including participation in the on-call rota of the Department of General/Vascular Surgery. Job Duties:Provide an outpatient service for the assessment and management of both new and follow-up patients.Provide inpatient care including daily rounds on patients.Provide consultations to hospital-based patients as requested by attending staff.Provide telephone consultation to colleagues.Teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students.Teaching responsibilities for nursing and peers as appropriate.Participate in departmental and other appropriate Surgical Program committees.Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to address staff and patient education needs.Practice in a collaborative fashion as a member of an interdisciplinary team and consult with members of other health professions as appropriate.Participate in the use of departmental and corporate evidence-based rules of practice to ensure that expected standards of care are achieved.Participate in the on-call rota of the Department of General/Vascular Surgery.Participate in medical practice that is compatible with the Health Authority’s mission, values and strategic directions.Within the confines of this scope of practice and position description, provide other duties that may arise by circumstance and may be required by the Head of the Department of General/Vascular Surgery, the Chief of Surgery, the Chief of Staff, and/or Medical Director. Remuneration:Fee for ServiceStandard remuneration is Fee-for-Service which is a direct compensation between the physician and Medicare of New Brunswick. On call remuneration is provided. No source deductions can be provided. Qualifications:Currently registered or eligible for licensure with with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New BrunswickFellow Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of CanadaExperience in Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) and other percutaneous endovascular techniques requiredStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with physicians, nursing staff, patients, directors, managers, and the community as requiredDemonstrated analytical abilityActively encourage a spirit of co-operation amongst team members Expected Start Date:
