Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.Unposting Date: 2024-12-16 11:59 PMYour role:CBC Sports has built a reputation for “best in class” content and sport production.We’ve identified the need for a Senior Analyst position (working title Unit Production Manager) reporting to the Senior Director – Sports.As the Senior Analyst (working title Unit Production Manager) they will be responsible for the financial and production management of the Broadcast Production unit for CBC Sports Presents, the premier telecast of CBC Sports.In this role they will work directly with the CBC Sports Executive Producers and Unit Production Managers for each CBC Sports component.The candidate may be assigned to other productions based on the departmental needs.Key Tasks:Responsible for planning and overseeing all aspects of the Toronto TV Production in collaboration with the Executive ProducerResponsible for tracking and forecasting production budgets as well as controlling and authorising related production expenditures.Evaluate each production’s financial status on a continuous basis, analysing budget variances and recommending a course of action to maintain budget integrity.In collaboration with the Director and CBC Sports staffing team when required will be responsible for negotiating freelance and talent contracts in accordance with CBC talent & labour agreements.In collaboration with the Director, Executive Producers and Unit Production Managers will negotiate and administer vendor agreements to ensure adherence to agreed terms and ensure compliance with CBC policies and CBC/industry business practices.Ability to anticipate production needs and recommend them to the creative teamMonitor actual costs against budget and track commitments, in conjunction with the Business and Unit Production Managers;Authorise spending of production costs, create files and reports for monthly accruals and expense reconciliation;Report and analyse expense reports and ensure compliance and recommend efficiencies;Advises program producers on spending related to program budgets and provides recommendations on cost efficiencies;Prepare and research cost efficiency initiatives in conjunction with the Production;Advises production staff on interpretation and application of CBC policies relating to Finance, HR, Business Affairs and collective agreements;Proposes, implements and maintains business processes with the scope of the above duties.We are looking for a candidate with the following:University degree in Business/Finance or equivalent work experience.At least five years’ experience of which three must involve work in broadcasting or a closely related industry, which is directly related to the area of assignment.A thorough understanding of the production planning process, production needs and workflow.Specific sports specific production experience is an asset.A high degree of facility with Financial Systems (general ledger, resource planning, scheduling and tracking tools).The ability to provide financial information in a manner that meets the needs of production and of senior managementExcellent negotiating, communication and multi-tasking skills, along with proven judgement, tact and leadership strengths.A team player willing to do a variety of tasks as required in a small unit and the ability to collaborate with a highly creative team.Ability to meet deadlines and to handle multiple priorities and to respond to many competing demands in a short space of time.Open to new ideas and approaches.Extremely motivated self-starter.Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, overtime and weekends as required.
