Job Description: FunctionOperations: Manufacturing, Production, Maintenance, UtilitiesJob DescriptionOur Candiac facility is currently seeking an Instrumentation and Control Specialist to join our Maintenance/Engineering team. This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours/week) with a schedule of Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, requiring mandatory on-call availability every other week.The ADM Candiac plant currently operates 11 PLCs, 5 network cabinets, and over 600 instruments monitored in real-time. The facility has recently completed the migration of its equipment control systems to Ethernet and aims to continue enhancing the robustness of its control and instrumentation operations.Reporting to the Plant Engineer, the Instrumentation and Control Specialist will hold a key role. They will coordinate integrator work, lead plant improvement projects from preparation to operational launch, and ensure the functionality of the plant’s network, PLC, and HMI systems. The specialist will also maintain the integrity of high and low-power electrical drawings, modify/add code to various PLCs for project implementation, and support production.The specialist must work closely with all departments within the plant, manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, and provide effective support for plant operations.Salary: Competitive, based on candidate experience

  • Perform work in accordance with established safety regulations.
  • Maintain and improve the plant’s instrumentation and control systems with the Engineering and Maintenance departments.
  • Calibrate, program, and start industrial electronic equipment.
  • Read, understand, and program industrial measurement and automation equipment.
  • Interpret high and low-power electrical plans.
  • Perform or coordinate connections on various computer and automation networks.
  • Program operator interfaces like PanelView and Horizon View.
  • Update virtual machines and process servers.
  • Collaborate with all departments to improve productivity, product quality, safety, and reduce operational costs.
  • Manage the IT network infrastructure of the administrative and operational systems.
  • Maintain and enhance PLCs and HMI systems for process control.
  • Plan instrumentation, control, and HMI integration for new equipment with project managers.
  • Serve as the go-to resource for process-related IT and network issues.
  • Stay informed on technological developments to boost productivity.
  • Follow industrial best practices (e.g., HACCP).
  • Ensure the integrity of high and low-voltage electrical drawings.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Industrial Electronics or Instrumentation and Control.
  • Five (5) years of proven experience in PLC troubleshooting, programming, and automation project commissioning.
  • Physical ability to stand, sit, lift weights, climb stairs/ladders, kneel, and work with tools.
  • Strong knowledge of computer systems.
  • Analytical skills, autonomy, resourcefulness.
  • Effective communication and mobilization skills to achieve common goals.
  • Functional bilingualism (French/English) for both oral and written communication.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities.
