Job Description: Your Opportunity:The Indigenous Wellness Core (IWC) works in collaboration and partnership across Alberta Health Services and with all external partners to support innovation and improvement in Indigenous Health and to work towards health equity for Indigenous peoples and communities. The IWC has a significant opportunity to improve the health of Indigenous Peoples in Alberta by focusing on upstream efforts and health equity, creating and building on community empowerment and action, and transforming health service delivery to address racism and focus more on determinants of health and prevention. The IWC is the mechanism through which AHS plans to achieve on-going provincial improvement in Indigenous health, patient outcomes and experience, health improvement and sustainability of Alberta’s health system. Reporting to the Executive Director, IWC Operations, the Clinical Informatics Lead (CIL) leads optimization work of Connect Care for the Indigenous Wellness Core and coordinates ongoing upgrades, clinical design work and future build considerations. The CIL ensures adherence to established configuration standards, promotion of standard clinical content, and adoption of best clinical practices focused on Indigenous health. The CIL also approaches the work from a culturally informed, trauma-sensitive, two-eyed seeing approach adding value and benefit to all clinical informatics coordinators and teams to develop cultural humility across clinical care systems. Experience implementing clinical systems and transforming clinical process and workflows are definite assets.Description:Acting as a lead escalation point, the Clinical Informatics Lead (CIL) gathers complex requirements and works out solutions with business stakeholders promoting consistent use of the Connect Care system. Complex issues or requirements often require work with operational stakeholders, other IT teams, governance groups, and vendors to identify solutions that best meet the clinical and cultural needs. The CIL ensures clinical adoption of the Connect Care system, facilitates issue resolution, and assists in the ongoing development, implementation, evaluation, and optimization for operational portfolios within the Indigenous Wellness Core and other Indigenous programs across the province (e.g., North Zone, Cancer Care, PPPH, Awasisak Program). The CI Lead works within the Indigenous Wellness Core. This role works with the Clinical Informatics (CI) team within the various operational portfolios as well as with various Zone Clinical Informatics teams. This team facilitates the optimal use of clinical information technology in support of the highest quality, safest, and most seamless continuum of clinical service delivery. The CI Lead, as a member of the IWC team, demonstrates leadership and expertise in the development, deployment, adoption, sustainability, and optimization of clinical information systems in support of the Indigenous Wellness Core in alignment with the Indigenous Health Commitments: Roadmap to Wellness. The CI Lead develops and maintains a strong relationship with the internal IWC stakeholders and external stakeholders within the zone and across the province. The CI Lead works in collaboration with all levels of clinical leadership (clinic and program managers, directors) and directly with all staff and physicians to enable the clinical information systems to support excellence in clinical practice and support quality patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications:A recognized post-secondary degree in a health-related discipline. Minimum 5 years’ healthcare experience in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working with Indigenous Peoples in a healthcare capacity. Minimum of 2 years’ experience with using or managing clinical information systems is required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Knowledge of AHS computer programs/systems such Connect Care, Netcare and Microsoft Office. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated proficiency in the English language, both written and oral required. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal growth. Experience in initiating and fostering positive relationships and partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to build strong customer relationships and to facilitate change. Considerable skill is needed to balance diverse and, occasionally conflicting, stakeholder interests. Considerable experience in complex problem solving, negotiation, concerns/conflict resolution and investigation/negotiation. Ability to think systematically and critically. Demonstrated understanding of analytical and evaluation techniques for quality improvement and benefits realization. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant health information standards, data interrelationships and dependencies among various health information systems. Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience and expertise in facilitating presentations to persuade, influence and convey information or transfer knowledge. Experience with teaching adult learners. Preferred Qualifications:Regulation as a health professional. Experience in health informatics. Experience in providing direct patient care, preferably within the health setting is considered an asset. EPIC ambulatory software knowledge/experience strongly desired. Experience in an Indigenous Community and/or Indigenous Health setting.
