This role is open for Senior Actuarial Analyst and Actuarial Team Lead depending on the individual’s qualifications and experience.Reserving is a trusted and highly valued function, with significant insight and influence on Aviva’s financial performance. In addition to building core reserving knowledge, team members benefit from significant interaction and exposure to insurance financials, claims operations, and actuarial pricing. Other development opportunities specific to the role includes technical skills in working with large datasets, claims knowledge, reinsurance knowledge, and product knowledge with a focus on commercial lines.What you’ll do:Support the operation and development of claims and policy data used by Reserving modelsAnalyze the adequacy of the company’s claim reserve levels by applying standard actuarial techniques on core commercial business and ad hoc solutions for specialty commercial businessSupport the Quarterly Reserving Committee and Year-end Valuation reports.Maintain monitoring reports for both internal and external reporting.Provide insights regarding the company’s financial performance from a reserving point of view.Build a close relationship with company-wide partners and connect with the business partners in understanding the reserve impact on their respective portfolio.Develop refinements to current data process to improve efficiency.What you’ll bring:Actuarial science, mathematics, or related field degree or equivalent experience.Actively pursuing actuarial exams.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Standout colleague who is also able to work independently.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – ability to build and maintain good working partnerships with various departments.Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through the technical implementation details while appreciating the big picture.Strong technical knowledge with MS Excel and SAS.Experience with R and Python is an asset.Aviva Canada has an accommodation process in place to provide accommodations for employees with disabilities.
