Job Description: Description :The Physiotherapist role is pivotal in developing and enhancing our physiotherapy program. The Physiotherapist will conduct comprehensive assessments, create personalized treatment plans, and provide care aimed at improving clients’ physical health, mobility, and overall well-being.This position requires a collaborative, patient-centered approach, emphasizing evidence-based practices, effective communication, and a strong commitment to promoting health and wellness within the community, particularly among vulnerable populations. The Physiotherapist will work closely with various teams within the Mustard Seed, including Resident Engagement, Property Management, and other departments as needed, to enhance residents’ quality of life and support their sustainable housing.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct detailed evaluations of clients’ physical abilities, including functional ability tests, strength, range of motion, and pain assessments.
• Establish accurate physiotherapy diagnoses and identify contributing factors to clients’ conditions.
• Collaborate with clients to set realistic, measurable treatment goals tailored to their specific needs.
• Design and execute individualized treatment plans, utilizing interventions such as therapeutic exercises, manual therapy (massage, manipulations etc.), education, and modalities like electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, and heat/cold therapy.
• Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and modify approaches to optimize outcomes.
• Provide clients with self-management strategies, including home exercise programs and ergonomic advice to enhance or maintain progress.
• Work collaboratively to design and implement this new physiotherapy program, including the development of processes, protocols, and service delivery models.
• Liaise with referring physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic care for clients.
• Actively participate in case discussions and interdisciplinary team meetings as needed.
• Develop and deliver health promotion initiatives to educate clients, staff, and the community about injury prevention, rehabilitation, and general well-being.
• Stay informed about advancements in physiotherapy practices by attending workshops, seminars, and pursuing ongoing education.
• Deliver culturally sensitive care that respects the diverse needs and backgrounds of all clients.
• Provide consulting or education services as required.
• Create frameworks physiotherapy programs in Mustard Seed Wellness Centers across Alberta.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Provide input into program evaluation upon request.
• Provide clinical support at the Student Run Clinic.
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program.
• Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
• Two years of experience considered an asset
• Experience in program development or establishing new services is an asset.
• Experience working in community setting.
• Must possess a valid First Aid Certificate

WORKING CONDITIONS

• As The Mustard Seed is a Christian ministry, we require our employees sign an agreement indicating that they will respect and not detract from our Statement of Faith
• Time more than regular working hours may be required on occasion
• Fluctuations in hours may apply due to programs operating outside of regular working hours
• Local travel to various Mustard Seed sites, client residencies, and external agencies will be require
• Employees are to be aware that many of our clients may experience difficulties or impairment at times, which could result in them uttering threats, discriminatory statements, and other insults at your person. This may in a raised voice, or in seeing unpredictable behaviour up to and including the possibility of them becoming aggressive

• Training on how to respond is provided, but this is to be considered typical working conditions. Many of our clients are unaware of the impact of these comments
