Job Description: Your Opportunity:Unit 23 is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our team. Reporting to the manager, the Occupational Therapist I (OT I) provides assessment, consultation, and recommendations for adolescents (aged 13-17yrs) with complex mental health issues .The OT I enables the patient to improve skills for daily living that are useful and meaningful to the patient & family. Service is provided in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, community agencies, and involves a patient and family centered approach. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: individual assessment and treatment implementation, group facilitation and planning, family consultation and case conferences. Engagement in program development and evaluation as required. Supporting student education is expected. Appropriate and timely documentation and statistical data collection (ie: workload measures) is required. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. You may act as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate and function as an integral health care team member. You will engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful and chosen occupations, including self-care, productivity and leisure. You will support clients to achieve optimum functional abilities and independence related to their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations. As an OT, you will provide comprehensive services, including triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, collaborative goal setting, treatment, prevention, self-management, education, case management, referral, transition support, and collaboration with relevant and chosen stakeholders and supports within the client¿s physical, institutional, cultural, and social environments. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. You will collaborate with clients and families in determining, implementing, and evaluating rehabilitation. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich support and engage in quality improvement by partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance services for the clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community and participate in peer mentoring and supervising students. You may also provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants and Therapy Aides.

Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program. Registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT). Additional Required Qualifications:3-5 years of Clinical OT experience with children and adolescents who have complex mental health disorders, and associated cognitive, behavioral, and developmental disorders Knowledge of the DSM V Knowledge and experience with standardized Occupational Therapy measures for children & adolescents Must have completed supervised training and and have experience in completing OT assessments for children & adolescents within mental health settings Knowledge of current, evidence based OT interventions Strong communication & interpersonal skills, with ability to work collaboratively with teams, services, and external agencies Knowledge of community resources/supports for OT related issues, including functional impairments, sensory issues, and fine/gross motor difficulties Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and complete work in a timely manner Computer skills are essential Supervised training and experience in OT assessments of children & adolescents within mental health settings Preferred Qualifications:Brain Story Certification preferred. Training in Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS).
