You’re Ottawa’s afternoon voice, keeping our audience informed about what’s happening in their city. You must be an exceptional journalist and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. You understand the diverse and changing landscape in Ottawa and the importance of reflecting all our communities in our content. You’re also comfortable adapting and shifting plans in order to react to breaking or developing news.We are looking for a candidate with the following:Demonstrated understanding and awareness of issues and events particular to Ottawa.Excellent journalistic decision-making skills.Excellent audio presentation skills and an engaging on-air presence.Ability to read the news on air and present material with credibility and authority in a range of situations including live events and breaking news.Ability to self-operate a studio audio board during a live newscast.Ability to quickly cut audio clips from a variety of audio and video sources.Ability to work effectively under pressure and deadlines, reacting quickly to changing priorities and breaking news.Strong writing and script-editing skills.Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.Strong desire to live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture.Creative, flexible, and self-motivated.Knowledge of the Ottawa region and Ontario would be an asset.Fluency in French would be an asset.
