You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews, and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Registered Occupational Therapists.

Required Qualifications:Completion of a master’s degree in psychology; a bachelor’s degree in social work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention; a master’s or bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy with similar educational components; a bachelor’s degree in nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling; or a bachelor’s degree in psychiatric nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:A combination of education and experience may be considered including those with a Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing with a minimum 3-5 years’ current clinical experience working with individuals who have mental health and addiction needs. Experience working with multidisciplinary team and community agencies. Solid knowledge foundation of intervention and treatment modalities relevant to clinical disorders and psychosocial and environmental problems. Knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistics Manual (DSM) and ability to formulate an accurate provisional diagnosis. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant community resources and legislation. Strong mental health assessment, crisis management and counselling skills. High degree of flexibility, as well as the ability to work independently and to engage and work with a diverse client population. Good interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently are essential. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work in stressful, demanding and changing conditions. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a center-wide multidisciplinary team. Good problem-solving skills and clinical judgment. Must be authorized to perform psychosocial activities as defined by the appropriate professional association. Outpatient/community experience. Preferred Qualifications:Experience developing and facilitating groups. Experience with Connect Care.
