Job Description: Job DescriptionOur client, a prominent figure in the non-profit sector, is currently seeking a Manager, Payroll & Pension to join their corporate office located in Dartmouth, NS. This pivotal role, operating within the finance team and reporting directly to the CFO, entails spearheading the payroll department and overseeing all pension-related activities for the organization.This permanent position presents an ideal opportunity for a seasoned manager who appreciates the collaborative and professional environment offered by a large-scale organization. - Oversee the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payrolls for a group of company and its’ affiliates
- Plan and direct all payroll functions
- Balance, adjust, and monitor information being transferred between systems
- Administration of the pension plan and employee communication and support in regards to retirements, terminations, enrollments, etc.
- Remit statutory deductions and reconcile monthly statements
- Year-end reporting
- Leadership and coaching for the Payroll Supervisor
- Creates and maintains a current procedure manual for all job functions
- Serves as a backup in the absence of the payroll associates and the Supervisor
- Acts as a resource for staff, co-workers and management
- Provides information and documentation to external auditors
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Attributes for Success:
- Minimum 7 years’ payroll and benefits experience; with at least three years of managerial or supervisory and pension plan administration experience
- Post-secondary education in Business, Accounting, or related field
- Certification with the Canadian Payroll Association as Certified Payroll Manger
- Completed employee benefits specialist certification will be considered a strong asset
- Strong knowledge of payroll, benefit and pension processes and legislation
- Ability to develop and implement strategies and programs
- Highly organized and superior attention to detail
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
