Hybrid work arrangement;Annual Profit-Sharing Program & Incentive PlanHealth/Dental/Vision Benefits as of day 1Store DiscountLinkedIn Learning Subscription;Parental Top Up ProgramEmployee Tuition Reimbursement Program;Bursary Program for children of employees;Onsite Perks: Free parking; Public Transit accessible; 24/7 access to onsite gym; full-service cafeteriaAccountabilities:Providing legal drafting skills with a view to successful execution of contracts, including leases and franchise documentation.Manage legal strategies to align with the company’s business objectives, ensuring proactive risk identification and mitigation.Plan and coordinate initiatives to assess and address legal risks, safeguarding the company’s interests.Schedule and oversee contract negotiations, including vendor, lease, and franchise agreements, to support optimized business operations.Delegate responsibilities to ensure compliance with corporate law, real estate, commercial transactions, and intellectual property regulations.Monitor litigation matters, coordinating with external counsel to manage risks and control costs.Direct the development of policies and practices related to corporate governance and shareholder matters.Ensure legal support for real estate transactions, including leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, and property management.Maintain effective collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders to address ongoing legal needs and ensure operational efficiency.Candidate QualificationsBachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited Canadian law school.Active membership in the Law Society of Ontario.A minimum of 5 years of experience practicing in corporate law.Full bilingual proficiency in English and French.Industry experience in retail/franchise, consumer goods, supply chain, or e-commerce.Experience overseeing litigation matters and working with external counsel.Exceptional legal drafting skills, with the ability to create clear and enforceable contracts, including leases and franchise documentation.Strong organizational and planning skills to coordinate legal initiatives and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.Excellent negotiation skills to oversee and drive successful contract outcomes.Ability to delegate and manage responsibilities effectively to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.Demonstrated ability to mentor and direct legal assistants or junior team members in day-to-day activities.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess legal risks and implement mitigation strategies.Assets You May Have:Degree in CommerceDegree in Civil LawCalled to the bar of the Province of QuebecJob Requisition: JR125566Giant Tiger is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to fair employment practices.Are you interested in this position but don’t yet meet all the criteria?
