(employee will be working with or have access to children or vulnerable adults and requires a Criminal Record Check)NoJob DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.Reporting to the Director, Professional Practice – Allied Health, the Lead, Allied Health Practice leads the strategic planning/design, implementation, promotion, evaluation and maintenance of discipline specific projects and initiatives designed to support unregulated and regulated health profession practices such as scope of practice and regulations, transition of unregulated professions to regulated, patient safety priorities, orientation, resource planning, and research in order to enhance practice environments and effective and efficient quality care.Travel is a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment.QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceGraduate of an approved clinical health profession with a Master’s degree in that health profession, health administration, education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A minimum of seven (7) years’ of recent, related clinical experience inclusive of a minimum of three (3) years’ of experience in education, clinical leadership and/or operational experience in a complex health care environment including progressive clinical practice, education, research, and project management and leadership experiences. Current practicing registration with a relevant allied health regulatory college and/or association/society in British Columbia. Valid BC Driver’s License.Skills And Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of professional practice, allied health regulations and standards, regulations and their application across the continuum of care.
- Ability to guide and build consensus with allied health professionals across the organization.
- Advanced competency in project/program implementation, management, and evaluation.
- Understanding of regulated and unregulated allied health professions and ability to provide effective recommendations that can enhance practice and ensure quality of care.
- Ability to lead organization change.
- Familiarity with current trends and issues related to allied health.
- Ability to develop and evaluate audit tools that provides meaningful feedback to clinical areas.
- Ability to identify opportunities that promote improved quality clinical care.
- Demonstrated ability to apply an evidence-based framework to inform decision-making.
- Advanced communication (written, oral, and presentation) skills, demonstrated organizational, planning and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and with changing priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated computer literacy competencies, including proficient use of Microsoft office. suite (e.g. word, excel, power point, outlook) as well as learning technologies.
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the position.
