Job Description: Law Clerk – Contract – 17725About the OpportunityOn behalf of our client, we are seeking a tenured Law Clerk with experience in family law litigation for a 2-to-3-month contract. The successful candidate will be supporting an experienced Family Lawyer by managing all aspects of litigation files, preparing legal documentation, coordinating schedules, and ensuring seamless trial preparation.Duties include but are not limited to:

• Manage family law files independently and provide full support throughout all stages of litigation
• Draft and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, affidavits, orders, and motion records
• Coordinate schedules and timelines for litigation activities, ensuring all deadlines are consistently met
• Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, legal professionals, court officials, and other relevant parties
• Support trial preparation, including organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, and managing trial logistics

About YouThe successful candidate will have the following:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Law Clerk, specializing in family law litigation
• Comprehensive knowledge of family law litigation procedures
• Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple cases in a fast-paced setting
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Proficiency in legal software, such as DivorceMate or similar tools
• Ability to maintain professionalism and composure under pressure, particularly in high-conflict situations

About the JobThe role offers a pay range of $33.00 to $40.00 per hour, depending on experience. Candidates can choose to work 100% remotely, in a hybrid model, or fully in-office in Ottawa. Applicants outside of Ottawa who prefer to work fully remotely are encouraged to apply.
