Location: Burnaby, BC

Combining our deep technical expertise with a 30-year track record, we deliver innovative, value-add consulting studies, project delivery and sustainability solutions to the mining & metals, oil & gas, and industrial sectors.We are looking for an Intermediate Risk Assessor to join our team, working across a variety of interesting and challenging projects.The role may be based either from Burnaby or Victoria, BC but you may be required to travel for short periods of time. If you’re the right person for the job, we are open to discussing possible remote working arrangements.About the role:

  • Work closely and effectively under the supervision of the Project Directors, Project Managers and Technical Leads on an ongoing basis in activities such as:
  • coordinating and managing groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, test pitting, borehole drilling, groundwater monitoring well installation, sediment sampling, tissue sampling
  • data tabulation, environmental data interpretation, and coordination of field subcontractors, reporting and documentation
  • reporting on Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessments
  • Field and office (approximately 50:50) support for site characterization and environmental risk assessment.
  • Conducting biophysical site assessments, aquatic and or/terrestrial.
  • Responsible for adhering to health and safety plans and quality processes on all work, projects and reports.
  • Assist with the preparation of work plans, budgets and schedules while ensuring deliverables are met in a timely manner.
  • Preparing reports and identifying recommendations

QualificationsAbout you:

  • A university degree in Environmental Sciences or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience conducting Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Remediation and/or Risk Assessments (with a focus on preparing Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessments).
  • Demonstrable experience performing detailed human health and/or ecological risk assessments (including dose modelling and risk calculations) related to exposures to soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, country foods and soil vapour for a range of chemicals.
  • Proficient with federal and provincial regulations
  • A professional designation such as RPBio or BIT (or the eligibility to obtain).
  • Experience in soil, groundwater and soil vapour sampling
  • Good initiative, strong attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability and willingness to conduct field work in remote locations
  • Able and willing to occasionally work during non-regular business hours, including weekends
