Job Description: Graduate Research Assistant, Remote Sensing and GIS DataMeasuring Urban Sustainability in Transitions (MUST) research program.In the appointment of Research Assistant, your general duties and responsibilities will be:
The graduate research assistant will be responsible for collecting, cleaning, and managing datasets derived from remote sensing and GIS sources, especially containing variables that serve as socio-economic proxies, infrastructure and landscape characteristics. This role entails data acquisition from relevant platforms, preprocessing raw data to ensure accuracy and consistency, and integrating multiple datasets for analysis. The assistant will perform data cleaning to address missing values, outliers, and inconsistencies, as well as geospatial alignment and transformations. They will also prepare the datasets for statistical and econometric analysis by constructing relevant variables, creating summary statistics, and ensuring compatibility with analytical software and methodologies.Your general location of work will be the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon campus, and you will report to Dr. Oscar Zapata (School of Environment and Sustainability).Required Number of Hours: 12 hours per week
Duration of Employment: January 1, 2025 – March 31, 2025.Qualifications (Skills and Abilities)
To be considered for this position, the ideal candidate must have skills in geography, GIS and remote sensing methods, and statistical analysis.You must be registered in a graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan.To Apply:
