If this description sounds familiar, then this opportunity is for you!What you’ll do:As a Financial Advisor, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide advice and assistance to clients or stakeholders on financial management, processes, and policies.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements or financial reports.
  • Monitor financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with CNSC, Receiver General and Treasury Board policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, review, and submit monthly Trial Balance to the Receiver General of Canada
  • Exercise financial authority/control over expenditures.
  • Participate in various departmental and interdepartmental meetings.
  • Support the development, preparation, and delivery of CNSC’s financial management services including planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting for divisions.
  • Financial Systems Development, Enhancement, and Implementation
  • Support the financial system/administration projects and initiatives.

Essential Qualifications:Education:Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university and specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce, economics, management information systems or an acceptable combination of relevant education, experience, and job knowledge.Language Requirements:Bilingual imperative with proficiency at BBB level.   • Providing financial analysis, planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting services to employees and management for smaller divisions.
  • Support the process of providing financial advice, briefings, guidance, services and recommendations to employees and management (Director level or above) related to departmental financial issues or processes.
  • Carrying out a challenge function as it relates to financial resource management (different sources of funding, for example, appropriation versus respendable revenues).
  • Using computerized accounting systems (SAP) and spreadsheet applications.

Knowledge:

  • Best practices and issues affecting the financial management function in the Government of Canada.
  • Government of Canada’s policy framework and reporting requirements related to financial management.
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Ability:

  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Analyze issues, provide advice, and make recommendations to clients and/or management.
  • Synthesize and analyze financial information in order to provide recommendations.
