Within this ministry, Financial Sector Regulation and Policy (FSRP) manages the regulation of insurance companies, pensions, and Alberta-based financial institutions like ATB Financial and credit unions. FSRP also provides policy analysis for provincial and national pension plans and ensures legislation and regulations meet the evolving needs of the industries it regulates.The Automobile Insurance Implementation Team (AIIT) is accountable for developing policies and programs necessary to deliver the care-first insurance system, including researching comparable legislation beyond Alberta. This team will also be accountable for developing strong collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to create integrated policy and planning options and cooperatively resolve issues.Role ResponsibilitiesAs the Director, Programs and Services, you will provide senior leadership to the Automobile Insurance Implementation Team, driving systemic, long-term reform and ensuring all systems are fully operational before the program’s launch.Your Impact: As the Director, Programs and Strategy, you will:

  • Lead a team of multi-disciplinary professionals in the development of legislative, regulatory, and policy frameworks to deliver the care-first auto insurance system.
  • Oversee the creation of healthcare treatment protocols, recovery management programs, and budget/product pricing strategies.
  • Build and nurture strong collaborative relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including insurers, medical professionals, and advocacy groups.
  • Ensure seamless integration of the care-first model within Alberta’s regulatory and operational systems, meeting the January 2027 launch deadline.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between government, industry, and other key partners to address issues and align strategies.
  • Oversee the AIIT budget, external consultants and other contracts related to the project.
