We’re on a continuous journey to build the most flexible and inclusive programs.Ready for tomorrow: We want to enable your success through interesting and challenging work, performance enablement, and learning and development.About the rolePlease note: this is a temporary 12-month term position, with a potential for extensionReporting to the Managing Director, Risk Advisory and Management, the Director, Commercial Risk Advisory and Management will oversee a team of Senior Managers who manage portfolios of distressed borrowers with loans up to $2,500M. The team’s primary focus is to work with the customer with a focus on rehabilitating performance while balancing optimal customer service with risk management. This position works closely with the team and internal and external partners to manage the customer relationships, develop strategies, and minimize risk to ATB, while working with borrowers and other stakeholders to turnaround businesses or maximize recoveries while navigating to an exit. The role provides guidance, training, and support to the team of managers, while also providing reporting insights to leadership. It also adjudicates the team’s applications for credit.AccountabilitiesYOUR IMPACT:
- Support the team in negotiating with clients and other stakeholders including, being able to lead and navigate through difficult conversations with clients
- Maintain a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to team members, fostering personal and professional development
- Conduct regular performance reviews, set actionable goals, and provide constructive feedback to drive improvement
- Work and communicate effectively with restructuring professionals, external counsel, valuators, and financial advisors
- Adjudicate applications for credit within the delegated lending authorities
- Ensure that the team’s file strategies are executed within a set timeline
- Establish and maintain positive relationships at every level across industries and internally across the organization
- Ensure credit decisions / recommendations are in accordance with sound credit granting principles and are in accordance with ATB lending policy and procedures
- Ensure regulatory and internal control requirements are met
- Support reporting activities by ensuring accuracy and completion of internal records
- Lead and work on other ad-hoc projects, ensuring the goals and timelines are met
- Contribute and support the organization’s objectives in managing loan losses

Skills, experience & requirements
- Leadership experience is an asset
- Credit adjudication experience is an asset
- Advanced credit structuring and financial analysis skills would be required
- 6 years of Credit/Lending experience in the Commercial Banking sector
- Familiarity with Business Credit and security documents with a strong understanding of contract law as it pertains to security agreements
- Practical knowledge with collection procedures – i.e. Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, Civil Enforcement Act, Forbearance Agreements/Settlements and Foreclosures
- Strong negotiating and conversational skills to handle difficult conversations
- Detail-oriented person with strong attention to accuracy
- Demonstrated ability as a competent communicator with effective listening skills
- Capable of making sound decisions in the absence of detailed instructions
- Accomplished personal computer skills, including the use of G-Suite for day to day work process
