Job Description: The Edmonton Police Service, Crime Analysis and intelligence Section (CAIS), is looking for a Criminal Intelligence Supervisor. This highly skilled person will be involved in the management, operations and coordination of analytical personnel and tactical and strategic analytical processes. This person will ensure a high quality of personnel performance and development, possess knowledge of current analytical techiques, and make decisions to ensure organizational priorities and requirements are supported.
Responsibilities include:
- Seconded to the Criminal Intelligence Service Alberta (CISA), to lead and manage a multi-agency team of analysts in the collection, collation, analysis and dissemination of information and intelligence relating to organized crime within Alberta.
- Review, prioritize and assign work to employees; analyze work volumes on a consistent basis to ensure resources are properly deployed to meet identified goals and objectives.
- Review documents, reports, and work products created by employees prior to submission to ensure consistency in product standards.
- Develop and administer policies and procedures as they relate to the empoyees of the Edmonton Police Service and Criminal and Intelligence Analytical functions.
- Evaluate performance of CAIS members including preparation of annual performance reviews.
- Maintain staffing levels through vacation/leave approvals and attendance reviews.
- Develop, assess, maintain and administer intelligence based training and certification programs for employees.
- Maintaining awareness of current trends in intelligence led policing and academic research.
- Communicating with internal and external stakeholders regarding intelligence matters.
- Call out responsibilites for analytical support.
- Performing other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Social Sciences or related field. Graduate Degree considered an asset.
- Five (5) years work experience in crime analysis, criminal Intelligence, or related research.
- Five (5) years work experience in a policing analytical environment would be considered an asset.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of investigative tools and techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of crime and intelligence analysis techniques and the Intelligence Cycle.
- In-depth knowledge of methodology development and application.
- In-depth knowledge of statistics and statistical interpretation.
- Knowledge or experience with crime analysis systems and software (e.g. ArcGIS, Cognos, i2 Analyst Notebook, iBase).
- Ability to summarize and present complex information in a coherent and understandable manner both verbally and written.
- Skill in preparing and making recommendations based on analyzed information.
- As part of your pre-hire screening you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work:
33.75 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of variable hours of work program.Salary Range:
21M, Salary Grade: 032, $51.171 – $65.301 (Hourly), $3,454.00 – $4,407.80 (Biweekly), $90,150.51 – $115,044.04 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.General:
