Two evening shifts per week.Closing Date: February 3, 2025Posting Stage: Internal and externalJob Summary:Founded in 1960, the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB) is one of the largest and most comprehensive non-profit agencies in Ottawa and a registered charity. It provides mental health services, employment programs, emergency shelter, community, health and housing services, and justice programs to youth in the Ottawa area, serving between 2,500 and 3,000 at-risk individuals aged 12+ and their families every month. YSB employs 350 caring professionals in a unionized environment in over 26 locations across Ottawa.The Coordinator oversees the daily operations and clinical services of the assigned youth mental health program, ensuring alignment with the policies and procedures of the Youth Services Bureau (YSB) and relevant partnership standards. Working in a community or outpatient setting, the coordinator ensures that program staff provide comprehensive support to youth experiencing complex mental health needs. The role includes operational oversight, direct clinical involvement, staff supervision, and contribution to program development and quality assurance.Principal Duties:Staff & Program Management
- Oversee recruitment, orientation, training, supervision, and evaluation of program personnel, including students and interns.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and develop work plans for assigned staff.
- Manage daily program operations, including staff scheduling, task delegation, and coordination of essential activities.
- Facilitate team meetings to assess program objectives, client needs, and outcomes.
- Support public education efforts on youth mental health services and challenges.
- Engage in continuous program evaluation, quality assurance, and development activities to identify and address trends and areas for improvement.
- Research and secure new resources, funding opportunities, and partnerships as needed.
- Ensure compliance with agency policies, relevant legislation, collective agreements, and safe work practices.
- Collaborate with internal YSB services, community partners, and funders to enhance service delivery.
Clinical/Client Services
- Oversee and monitor crisis interventions, safety planning, risk assessments, and follow-ups, as well as documentation standards.
- Conduct high-risk assessments, admission/discharge planning, and case management oversight, ensuring safety plans are followed.
- Provide direct clinical services to clients when required and offer support in emergency coverage situations.
- Respond to client feedback and complaints, addressing issues to enhance service quality.
Administrative Duties
- Complete all administrative tasks in line with YSB policies, including payroll submissions, scheduling, shift summaries, and discrepancy reports.
- Prepare regular reports, statistical documentation, and program data for directors and funders.
- Support budget administration and monitor spending, maintaining accountability for program resources.
- Ensure program files (electronic and physical) are organized and up to date.
- Maintain inventory, physical plant, and equipment for program needs.
- Coordinate the distribution of promotional materials to clients, partners, and the community.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work/Counselling Psychology or relevant field is essential
- Membership in good standing with a college authorized to practice Psychotherapy; RP’s grand-parented into CRPO will be considered
- Master’s Degree in Social Work/Counselling Psychology or relevant field is an asset
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience working with youth mental health or related services, including experience with complex needs.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in risk assessment, crisis intervention, and safety planning for youth mental health.
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of therapeutic approaches, intervention strategies, YSB programs, and community resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in French required
- Valid driver’s license and availability for on-call responsibilities and flexible hours, including evening shifts.
- Experience managing budgets, creating presentations, and familiarity with relevant legislative guidelines and accreditation requirements.
