(employee will be working with or have access to children or vulnerable adults and requires a Criminal Record Check)NoJob DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.Reporting to the Manager, Workforce Scheduling Quality Improvement and Education, the Continuous Improvement Coordinator (CIC), Workforce Scheduling is responsible for providing leadership to Scheduling and Timekeeping Teams to improve team performance. In particular, the CIC provides expertise in the mapping, measurement and facilitated redesign of processes, and in the monitoring of results with teams. The CIC acts as a ‘coach’ or ‘facilitator’ to Teams to support their internal quality improvement process. The CIC provides leadership in managing the implementation of departmental policy and technology changes.Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceA level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Social Sciences, Human Resources, Health Information, or related discipline. Proven track record with process re-design and workflow analysis resulting in measurable process improvements. A minimum of three (3), preferably five (5), years related experience. Experience in a healthcare field is preferred.The following are preferred skills or experience and would be considered an asset to those applying:

  • Knowledge of theory and application of health quality improvement principles and frameworks
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of corporate procedures and collective agreements relative to health care employee scheduling

  • Knowledge of process improvement tools and techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a group to achieve goals and objectives through exceptional team facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, coach and mentor others

  • Superior oral and written communication skills to present and prepare concise analysis, reports and recommendations
  • Self-directed and motivated, with demonstrated ownership over assigned responsibilities
