As a recognition of our commitment to quality and patient safety, we have received the highest distinction of Exemplary Standing from Accreditation Canada.Job SummaryThe Clinical Facilitator role is role is a Ministry of Health funded role as part of the Clinical Scholar Program. It is designed for experienced RNs with frontline experience to mentor and support new graduate and novice nurses in their transition into the workforce. Types of nurses supported include nursing graduates, novice nurses, nurses transitioning into specialty areas, and internationally educated nurses (IENs) – hereafter referred to as “nurses”. This will run until December 2025.Primary Responsibilities

  • Support nursing practice and integration into the clinical area in accordance with organizational and professional standards, alongside the designated mentor and clinical educator.
  • Assist nurses to become familiar with the work in their new area of practice
  • Provide consultation and/or clinical support to peers especially new staff members as needed
  • Support real-time reinforcement of required skills attainment of new staff nurses to the clinical units
  • Provide clinical coaching, mentoring, and the provision of educational activities to enhance knowledge transfer/uptake to achieve quality patient outcomes, staff empowerment and professional development
  • In collaboration with clinical managers and educators, support identified departmental and individual learning needs relative to improvement opportunities and ensure alignment with corporate and program priorities
  • Use a patient and family centered approach when assisting nurses with providing hands-on care
  • Effectively utilize corporate education resources to support corporate education project rollouts and sustainability
  • Promote nurses’ wellness and team well-being
  • Serve as a liaison and conduit between the unit leadership, clinical educator and Professional Practice.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in frontline care and at least 3 years’ experience in the emergency department required
  • Competencies to provide mentorship to newly graduated nurses required
  • Demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrates excellent clinical, communication and coaching skills and competencies
  • Previous experience working with learners and/or preceptoring/mentoring required
  • Safe Management Group (SMG) training required
  • Knowledge and expertise with central venous access devices and complex wound care is required
  • Emergency nursing certificate a preferred
  • Being a RNAO BPSO Champion preferred
  • Demonstrated excellent problem-solving, decision making and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational, change management and conflict management skills
  • Demonstrates understanding of infection prevention and control practices and emergency procedures
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all
  • Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a challenging and exciting health care environment
  • Passion for supporting and growing the nursing workforce through role-modeling and professional development
