Job Description: We currently have an opening for a Civil Engineer (Senior) in our Vancouver office.The successful candidate will join a dynamic team and provide innovative design, improve overall group performance and client service. You will provide technical expertise in all aspects of civil design of linear infrastructure, specifically watermain, sanitary sewer and storm sewer design and road rehabilitation and improvements. You will also provide project coordination on municipal infrastructure projects for public sector clients as well as assist in the design, construction, and project management of a wide variety of projects including smaller and larger scale municipal infrastructure developments. You will have hands-on involvement in preparing studies, designs, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents. You will actively participate in scheduling, budgeting, tendering, and contract administration for infrastructure projects, including involvement in business development and preparation of proposals. You will also have significant interaction with Clients, Contractors, and Subconsultants. Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing assignments with minimal guidance from other Senior Engineers.
- Coordinating Technicians, Technologists and Designers to ensure that contract drawings are accurately prepared and checked.
- Leading multi-disciplined projects and coordinating with internal subject matter experts.
- Coordinating Subconsultants’ activity on projects.
- Preparing and reviewing written technical reports including but not limited to feasibility studies, concept design, detailed design, and design criteria reports.
- Preparing contract documents and construction drawings.
- Performing project coordination tasks including communications with Clients, managing schedules, budgets, and reporting requirements.
- Achieving budget compliance on assigned engineering projects to meet financial objectives.
- Leading and Assisting with writing proposals to procure new projects.
- Executing projects in accordance with company guidelines and standards.
- Participating in scheduling, budgeting, tendering, and inspection.
- Acting as the primary contact for all project-related Client & Company Site Inspector communications.
- Providing mentorship and professional development to junior staff.
Job Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
- 20+ years of progressive experience in designing municipal infrastructure.
- PMI PMP &/or MMCD CA certifications would be an asset.
- NASSCO’s PACP, LACP, or MACP certification would be an asset.
- Experience in designing infrastructure projects in British Columbia.
- Trenchless design experience would be an asset.
- Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential employee or Client matters with integrity.
- Proven ability to liaise and manage Clients, Contractors, and other Consultants’ relationships.
- Superior planning and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Committed team player and highly self motivated.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office, including OneNote and SharePoint.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel throughout Canada.
