Missions/Main Duties:As a Bridge Engineer at SYSTRA IBT, you will be required to perform engineering calculations and to check and assist in the production of bridge documentation in the form of reports and drawings with guidance from senior engineering staff. Additionally, you’ll provide coordination assistance and support to the project management staff for the projects you’re involved on ensuring smooth communication among project stakeholders.Engineering:
- Interpret design criteria, reports and plans.
- Complete detailed analysis of structures under guidance from senior engineering staff.
- Prepare professional design calculations in accordance with design criteria, relevant codes (CAN/CSA, AASHTO) and engineering principles.
- Perform field reviews and site visits at construction sites as needed.
- Prepare sketches documenting design.
- Coordinate drafting of plans with CAD technicians.
- Review and provide mark-ups of plans to achieve a high quality of project documentation.
- Monitor compliance of construction activities with design documentation.
- Review construction quality records.
- Other related tasks.
Design coordination:
- Coordinate the design process across various disciplines.
- Liaise with clients, design teams, contractors, and other relevant parties.
- Facilitate communication and resolve design-related issues.
- Ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirements in design deliverables.
- Review and manage design changes as needed.
- Other related tasks.
Profile/Skills:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.Years of experience: 5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, including bridge design and coordination/quality assurance of design submittals.Professional engineer license: Registered or eligible to register with Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec as an Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineer.Technical competencies:
- Solid knowledge of the principles, concepts, and practices of project management and project reporting, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Experience with preparing and interpreting structural design criteria, drawings, reports and plans.
- Site experience on infrastructure construction projects, particularly performing field reviews, is an asset.
- Knowledge of bridge design principles and practices. A strong understanding of structural analysis methods and experience with precast/prestressed concrete is an asset.
- Knowledge of health, safety and security best practices, to ensure a safe working environment. Formal training is an asset.
- Experience in the railway industry is an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks, within tight deadlines and schedules.
- Willingness and availability to travel as needed.
- Fluent in French and English, to be able to work closely with collaborators in Canada and the United States.
