Job Description: The Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest has an opportunity forBIOSTATISTICIANKunen-Lunenfeld Centre for Applied Research & Evaluation (KL-CARE)Position Type: Full-time Contract (1 year, renewable)Shift Type: Day, No WeekendsBi-Weekly Hours: 70 HoursHours of Work: 7 hrs/shiftPosting Number: 8406Union: Non-UnionDate Posted: December 9, 2024Kunin-Lunenfeld Centre For Applied Research & Evaluation (KL-CARE) is a support and services hub focused on working with healthcare professionals, researchers, trainees, and commercial partners to facilitate and support clinical, applied, and evaluative research at Baycrest and beyond. The KL-CARE biostatistician duties will include assisting with statistical design; data cleaning and management; conducting quantitative analyses; analyzing data to develop reports, graphs, and publications; and provide support and consultation to KL-CARE clients.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • In collaboration with other KL-CARE staff, provide input into database design for appropriate data entry and storage and advise on data specifications at project initiation;
  • Responsible for data management, including extracting data from various data sources, preparing data for analyses (i.e., data cleaning), and deriving additional measures to be used for analysis;
  • Complete quantitative analyses and provide synthesized research results, charts, and graphs for operational and research reports, publications, scientific manuscripts as required;
  • Develop and produce reports for stakeholders and project funders; and
  • Provide statistical consultation to clinicians, researchers, trainees, and other clients regarding study design and analysis planning and sample size calculations for grant and ethics applications.
  • Communicate statistical methods and results to individuals of varying statistical knowledge and experience

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • At minimum, completion of a Master’s Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or recognized equivalent required;
  • A minimum of 2 years practical and related analysis experience required; experience in statistical consulting is an asset
  • A Stat. or P.Stat. accreditation is desirable.
  • Knowledge of research and methodology, quantitative data collection and analysis techniques, statistics, and database development;
  • Strong statistical analysis skills, using SAS, R, SPSS or other statistical analysis software;
  • Capability in manipulation, extraction, and linking data;
  • Experience working with health-based datasets and small sample sizes is an asset;
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, partners, and colleagues;
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet deadlines; and
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
