This role will provide leadership for a specific the Northern region in our Advisory Services organization, providing direct leadership for over 90 SFAs and FAs, 55 FAAs, 2 managers of FAA’s and Regional Directors as we implement strategies that support ATB Financial’s 10 year strategy and ATB Wealth’s specific strategy and annual operating plans.The primary focus of the role is growth through the recruitment, engagement and development of our sales force and leadership in the development and execution of regional strategies as well as the integration of our overall Wealth and ATB strategies and goals. The role is accountable for profitable results in achieving Wealth goals but also for establishing processes, practices and innovations that can be leveraged to anticipate and create the future of ATB Wealth.The incumbent in this role actively engages, recommends, challenges and aligns the implementation of new technologies, processes, practices and policies required to achieve ATB Wealth and ATB’s target culture, strategy and business plans. They are focused on building capability for growth and are responsible for the attraction, onboarding and engagement of senior financial advisors, financial advisors, and market directors.. The role leads, challenges and prepares team members for the future of work by fostering a growth mindset.This role contributes to the overall strategy of Wealth and has accountability for leading strategy implementation in a way that leads to success. The role requires strategic and systems thinking that results in the establishment of both innovative and effective tactics and quick and efficient pivoting to respond to changing client, market or regulatory requirements.The role has a requirement for high visibility in the major market regions, acting as a brand ambassador, connecting and facilitating broad and deep networks. The role is also a contributing member of the expanded leadership team within Wealth, providing regional perspectives, market development innovations and growth opportunities as well as advocating for the continued enablement of our sales force.AccountabilitiesAdvisory Services Strategy
- Participate in the development of specific long term and short-term strategies to deliver on our Wealth and ATB targets
- Bring a comprehensive and up to date understanding of client and advisor needs to inform strategy and operations
- Develop, validate, implement, review and revise a longer-term regional strategy and annual work plan that aligns to market plans, our vision for growth and the targets in our three-year strategy and annual operating plan
- Systems thinking, design thinking, process and practice improvement, role design and deep business acumen are reflected in the development of strategic initiatives lead by this role
Regional Market Development
- Develop and implement sales and growth plans in your market to achieve target-based business results aligned to the Wealth business plan
- Provide regional market development expertise, implementing regional marketing strategies and sales activities that support the accomplishment of our market development goals and client satisfaction as well as addressing unpenetrated markets
- Develop and implement an aligned strategy and road map for business development in a specific region, leveraging all of talent, tools, processes, tools, and partnerships within a region
Sales Team Leadership
- Provide overall accountability for attracting, hiring, onboarding and the accelerated development of Senior Financial Advisors and Financial Advisors in a way that aligns with our required Advisor Attributes and the culture of client obsession within National Advisory
- Ensure enablement strategies that support advisors to deliver exceptional client experiences are implemented in a way that differentiates our advisors from the competition
- Identify and address issues of engagement with our advisors, continually striving to ensure that advisors want to stay with ATB and to partner in our success
Horizontal Leadership
- Contribute to collaboration across regions, functions and within ATB’s AOEs, setting a model for creating horizontal partnerships that directly contribute to the achievement of our targets
- Establish and optimize the integration of teams to deliver to our clients by articulating the linkages between the accountabilities and authorities of different roles across the group and by establishing the context in which they will work collaboratively with one another
Managerial Leadership
- Develop, implement, review and revise annual business plans and budgets designed to deliver on regional performance Advisory Service annual goals and targets
- Establish goals, plans and assignments for direct reports that cascade from our annual operating plan
- Source, recruit and grow a continually pipeline of high potential/ high performing leaders and recognize and reward excellence in leadership and performance
Change Leadership
- Act as a catalyst for positive change in a way that reflects and balances the entrepreneurial nature of the advisor’s role and our commitment to a differentiating client experience
Team Leadership
- Establish a leadership team with a major region with an effective and an operating model (regular cadence of meetings and communication, prioritization and alignment, removal of barriers)
- Contribute to the effectiveness of the senior leadership team of national Advisory, providing insights, perspectives, data and strategic thinking to addressing issues and opportunities
Regulatory & Risk Management
- Implement regulatory changes that impact our sales team
- Promote a culture of compliance
Skills, experience & requirements
- Experience in designing, validating and installing a winning sales strategy
- Experience in leading advisors or a sales force with an entrepreneurial focus
- A minimum of 10 years related experience in the investment industry including at least 5 years of sales leadership experience with a proven track record of recruiting and leading a successful sales team
- University Degree in Finance or Business
- Completion of CSC, CPH, CFP and Branch Manager Courses
- CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or CIM (Chartered Investment Manager) would be an asset
- Registered or eligible for immediate registration by CIRO
