Job Description: Job DescriptionOur client, a well-established organization based in Dartmouth, NS, is seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Accounting Manager to join their team. • Prepare, analyze, and present accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
• Assist in the creation, implementation, and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts to support strategic goals
• Use data analytics tools to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to enhance performance
• Ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and internal policies while maintaining strong internal controls to safeguard assets
• Prepare for and assist with internal and external audits, ensuring all financial records and processes are thoroughly documented
• Work closely with other departments to understand their financial needs and provide tailored insights
• Directly oversee and manage a small team of 4 – 6 staff, providing guidance and mentorship and fostering a high-performing work environment
• Identify and implement opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency

Experience & Attributes for Success:

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting
• CPA designation preferred but not required
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, ideally within a financial institution or similar environment
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel; experience with data analytics tools is highly desirable
• Strong ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights
• High commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in all work
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; adept at presenting financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and take initiative in a team-focused environment
