SALARY: $49.41 – $58.38 per hour

Be part of our story. Come grow with us!POSITION OVERVIEW:We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Environmental Coordinator to join our team. This role involves professional-level environmental work, including research, analysis, policy development, and program implementation. The successful candidate will evaluate development applications from an environmental perspective, coordinate approvals with regulatory agencies, and collaborate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.This position offers a unique opportunity to influence environmental policies, ensure compliance with regulations, and contribute to sustainable development within the community.Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on environmental issues, analyze data, and coordinate environmental impact studies, including managing consultants.
  • Develop and refine environmental objectives, policies, bylaws, and regulations based on research and legislative requirements.
  • Review development applications to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, policies, and regulations.
  • Coordinate the processing and approval of environmental aspects of development applications with regulatory agencies.
  • Perform site inspections of construction projects to verify adherence to environmental requirements.
  • Present recommendations and reports to Council, committees, boards, and community groups, serving as a representative on City and regional committees.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to address environmental legislative developments, trends, and issues.
  • Respond to public and stakeholder inquiries, resolve environmental complaints, and recommend solutions.
  • Prepare reports and provide information to regulatory agencies, interest groups, and staff.

  • Considerable knowledge of the practices, principles, techniques, and procedures applicable to the work performed.
  • Considerable knowledge of the legislation, policies, rules, regulations, bylaws and objectives governing environmental land use and development.
  • Considerable knowledge of standard research methods and techniques and current trends and developments in environmental land development.
  • Ability to perform environmental planning, research and analytical tasks, and to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
  • Ability to prepare reports and recommendations on a variety of projects, programs and policies related to environmental issues.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, internal and external contacts and authorities.
  • Ability to act as departmental representative on Municipal and regional committees and as advisor, liaison and resource to internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to exercise sound, consistent judgement and creativity to environmental matters, problems and projects.
  • Ability to perform tasks under general supervision.
