We educate through various outreach and engagement activities, advocate by representing consumer interests, and mediate disputes between consumers and utility companies.To learn more about the Utilities Consumer Advocate, click this link:Role ResponsibilitiesThe Utilities Consumer Advocate Branch is seeking a Junior Consumer Education Specialist that will be responsible for supporting successful implementation of the UCA Consumer Education and Awareness program.Reporting to the Senior Consumer Education and Engagement Specialist, this position will support the UCA in connecting with its target audiences including Indigenous people and communities through effective education and public engagement practices. Working within the parameters of a Consumer Education and Awareness Program (CEAP), the Junior Consumer Education Specialist will contribute to the implementation of the comprehensive CEAP stakeholder outreach plan. This position will also support other staff in identifying, establishing, and cultivating positive relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including organizations who serve Indigenous people in Alberta.The successful candidate must demonstrate personal initiative to establish and cultivate positive relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. The position requires strong research, relationship-building, and communications skills (including public speaking, writing, editing and proofreading) to assist in identifying and responding to issues faced by residential, farm, and small business electricity and natural gas consumers. Drawing from a background of public education, communications, marketing, and facilitation, this position is instrumental in the development and delivery of engaging educational programs and other resources that empower consumers. - Public presentations and education or experience with trade shows;
- Graphic design and public communication;
- Demonstrated project coordination with multiple stakeholders

- Successful candidate must reside or be willing to relocate to Edmonton, Alberta for the role.
- Ability to work at trade shows and other events to provide information to consumers.
- Must be available for travel and able to work overtime when required for public engagements. Out-of-town trips could last for up to four (4) days.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to work evenings and weekends as required. Most travel and presentation time will be done independently, and candidates will be required to transport boxes of materials and presentation supplies.
