We believe in creating a workplace where you can thrive professionally while contributing to something greater, serving our communities and shaping the future of energy.About the Role:As an Engineer in the Transmission System Management Planning team, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the gas transmission network which supplies the largest urban centres and some of the largest industrial customers in Alberta. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the Natural Gas business unit to plan, coordinate, and execute over $200M of planned transmission capital work annually.During unplanned events on the transmission system, you will work with like-minded and motivated individuals to mitigate system and customer impacts and restore the transmission system so that customers can continue to receive safe and reliable natural gas service that ATCO is known for.What You’ll Do:

  • Support project engineering teams using hydraulic analyses and provide recommendations in facilitating project work, such as timing considerations and facility manipulations to determine the required system conditions for successful project execution
  • Coordinate with and maintain strong working relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders (including, but not limited to Gas Control, Transmission System Coordination, Project Engineering, Operations, etc.) to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Liaise with other external pipeline operators in operating and coordinating work on the integrated Alberta natural gas transmission system
  • Provide support (e.g. determining mitigative measures) during emergency and/or outage events affecting security of supply and overall system operations. Emergencies may require after hours on-call support.
  • Develop operational plans to manage short-term system issues until a permanent solution can be implemented
  • Authenticate professional work products once professional designation and demonstrated competence has been achieved

What You Bring:

  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Engineer in Training (EIT) with a Canadian regulatory body
  • Minimum three (3) years of applied engineering experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Relevant experience in the natural gas and/or pipeline industry is an asset
  • Experience in or support of pipeline system control is an asset
  • Experience with Synergi Gas or other gas hydraulic modelling programs is an asset
  • Strong technical aptitude, analytical ability, problem-solving, organization, and time management skills
