Job Description: Your Opportunity:The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals, families, and/or communities. The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible to provide quality health care, while working at full scope of practice as noted by the CLPNA, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. This will ensure that comprehensive, coordinated, and continuous care is provided to patients and families. Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary Zone. Demonstrated organizational and clinical skills in addition to being self-directed and able to work collaboratively in a team environment. Computer proficiency. Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques. Minimum 4 months recent nursing experience in an acute in-patient psychiatric setting. Working Knowledge of Psychotropic medications. Experience in administering the Mental Status examination. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act. Experience in various risk assessment i.e. Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, violent risk. Knowledge of the addiction and mental health continuum of care. Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 2 years recent mental health nursing experience. Demonstrated ability in facilitating groups and family interviews will be considered an asset. Previous mental health nursing experience. Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI). IV Certification. Working Knowledge or experience about the various therapeutic modalities i.e. CBT, DBT, Supportive therapy, Motivational interview.
