Join us as we assist mining companies in getting mined materials to communities around the globe.Your OpportunityAs a Geotechnical Engineer EIT, you will be a member of a multidisciplinary team working in energy andresources, primarily on metal, coal and large oil sands mining projects. Work will include various stages in the project life cycle, from exploration and site investigations, through conceptual design, construction, closure and reclamation. Our geotechnical project work typically involves design and evaluation of mine waste structures including pit walls, mine rock and tailings storage facilities, and surface water impoundments.Applicants must be prepared to travel and be in the field for assignment intervals of 2 to 3 weeks at a time. This role is classified as full-time employment with benefits with an estimated 37.5 hours per week.Your Key ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities and essential job tasks include, but are not limited to the following:Participate in the planning and completion of geotechnical/geological site investigations. This may include instrumentation, logging, sampling, and field testing.Install, monitor and provide preliminary interpretation of data from geotechnical instrumentation.Participate in the analyses and design of earth structures, including mine pit slopes, waste disposal areas, and tailings dams.Support mine and tailings planning groups in the development and design of large mining and closure projects.Assist in the preparation of technical design documents.Generate and/or update technical drawings, figures and models.Assist in the preparation of project proposalsComply with and actively participate in Stantec and client safety programs.QualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsAbility to communicate clearly and effectively in English (both written and oral communication).Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs.Working knowledge of ACAD Global Mapper, and GeoStudio is an asset but not required.Mining or Construction field experience is an asset but not required.A desire to learn, be part of a community and engage in exciting work.Education and ExperienceBachelor or Master’s degree in geotechnical, geological, or civil engineering.Previous co-op/Internship experience in industry or consulting experience.Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and satisfactory Driver’s Abstract, per Stantec’s Safe Driving Policy.Registration with EGBC or APEGA (or other provincial body)This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec is a place where the best and brightest come to build on each other’s talents, do exciting work, and make an impact on the world around us.   • Lower Mainland $65,300 – Lower Mainland $91,400 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
