Join our team and help us keep communities connected.Your OpportunityStantec’s Transportation group provides planning, design, and construction administration services for roadway, highway, transit/rail, bridge, and related projects. We are currently seeking a contract administrator to complement our transportation team in Ottawa and play a lead role in the delivery of environmental assessment and functional/preliminary and detailed design assignments primarily for public sector clients. Due to expanding business opportunities in Ontario and elsewhere within the company, this position offers growth in the areas of technical/professional development and project management.Your Key ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Construction Administrator shall work on all aspects of administering a construction contract, including but not limited to:Assists with monitoring and calculation of production ratesAssists with monitoring compliance with and administering terms of operational constraints of the contractAssist with monitoring of compliance to commitments of and administering construction contract provisions regarding the Contractor’s Quality Control Performance MeasuresChecks and inspects construction activities and operations, and works to ensure compliance with the contract documents, drawings, and specificationsConducts site surveys, confirms scope of work, obtains relevant information, equipment and materials, and maintains quality and payment records in a daily diary for the work completedCompiles field/test data in a report formLiaise/coordinate with service providers for specialized inspections and/or testing to ensure the tasks are completed under the terms or reference, specifications, or agreementAttend site meetings as requiredObtain video / photographic records as requiredRecord, review, and address contractor questions and clarifications by reporting to the Contract Administrator for resolution if not already provided to the contractorAttend site meetings and reconnaissance on-siteAble to handle multiple priorities without losing focusPosition will require in-office and on-site duties.QualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsPrior experience working on MTO or City of Ottawa projects is an assetAble to work on weekends and nights, as requiredStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work well in a team environmentProficiency with MS OfficeA valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicleDetail orientedEducation and ExperienceA Post Secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology / TechnicianMinimum 4 years experience in engineering/construction working on transportation structures projectsEither registration as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with PEO as a Technician or Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T.Designation as determined by OACETT as a Road Construction Senior Inspector (RCSI) or Road Construction Contract Administration (RCCA) is an assetThis description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec is a place where the best and brightest come to build on each other’s talents, do exciting work, and make an impact on the world around us.
