AFL has operations in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Europe, Asia and Australia and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujikura Ltd. of Japan.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTING OUTCOMES: * Compilation of all necessary information for permitting process, including:

  • Managing the process of Traffic Management Plan (TMP) application and submission to Go Traffic and report completion to Management
  • Using AFL drawings and City maps to determine highway use permit (HUP) requirements for arterial and collector roads for each Field Service Area (FSA)
  • Using AFL drawings to determine work locations for placing and splicing, and describe in the application, where work is being done, in MHs, SVs, or aerial
  • Analyze and conduct quality control of AFL drawings and layout prior to submission to Cities for permitting to ensure all quantities have been captured correctly
  • Submit and monitor progress of permit applications
  • Report application progress to managers including amendments, expiration, resubmissions, extensions and completion
  • Field inquiries and issues from Cities regarding the applications and propose solutions; escalate to Managers were required
  • Escalate applications due to delays in receiving permit (City or TMP provider behind schedule)
  • Escalation to managers, to place Priority requests to Cities or TMP providers and monitor progress
  • Assist Product Manager with design review and plan submittal to all municipalities
  • Establish network to cities
  • Organize and maintain permit tracker with plans and permit submission date, receive date, expiration date, renewal date and project closure date
  • Track and communicate with project managers to ensure the permit tracker is updated, all repairs are completed and pictures have been uploaded without outstanding acts
  • Track set deadlines for FSA’s, and coordinate issue resolution with appropriate parties and/or escalate to appropriate levels to address and track upon completion
  • Report on progress and data to stakeholders including Director, Civil, Placing and Splicing Managers on each build weekly
  • Send Place Start/Completion notices and Circuit Vision Testing (CVT) completion notices to stakeholders as mandated
  • Provide subject matter expertise to AFL management team, project managers (Splicing, Civil and Placement) and subcontractors with permit related questions
  • Work and maintain communication across various departments and individuals including Project Managers, 1 Directors, Construction Managers, and Splicing/Placing Managers
  • Deliver permits to applicable Project Managers
  • Participate in weekly conference calls between AFL Management and client
  • Set up program access for new FCC’s including ShareFile, Dropbox and Outlook
  • Produce and maintain accurate construction files, reports, trackers and documentation including, but not limited to contact lists, revised plans, incident reports, material selections, field level hazards and CVT.

QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge & Experience

  • 1-3 years administrative experience
  • Previous experience in telecommunications is an asset
  • Superior customer service
  • Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (emphasis on Excel), AutoCAD and blueprint
  • Knowledge of payroll accounting
  • Knowledgeable in reading blue prints

WORKING CONDITIONSPhysical Requirements

  • In-Field office environment
  • Extensive travel as operationally required

Work Hours

  • General hours are 8:00am – 4:30pm with extended hours and days as operationally required
