Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership in Health and Safety: Take the lead in championing Health and Safety, Environment, and Quality programs, ensuring adherence to the OH&S Acts, Regulations, and Codes.
  • Emergency Response: Contribute to planning, exercises, and inspections related to emergency response initiatives.
  • Team Training: Oversee the training and competency of all team members, collaborating with the Operations Manager and HSEQ department to coordinate training schedules.
  • Logistics Coordination: Manage the shipping and receiving of project materials while ensuring compliance with quality programs.
  • Resource Management: Order parts and materials, prioritize projects, manage workforce planning, and monitor progress effectively.
  • Vacation Scheduling: Collaborate with the Operations Manager to effectively schedule employee vacations, ensuring adequate coverage.
  • Certification Maintenance: Ensure the maintenance of CWB forms, welder certificates, and welding procedures pertinent to VANPILE’s certifications.
  • Project Planning: Attend yard meetings, actively participate in weekly coordination meetings, and provide updates on mobilization and fabrication progress.
  • Daily Reporting: Maintain comprehensive daily reports tracking yard activities, events, and inspections.
  • Support Operations: Assist with yard operations, verify timesheet accuracy, and lend support during the bidding process.
  • Public Representation: Act as a representative of VANPILE to the public, reflecting the company’s values and goals.
  • Dispatch Oversight: Participate in decision making around dispatch of personnel.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skill Set:

  • Technical Training: Hold a trade certification or diploma in a related industry program.
  • Industry Experience: Bring 5+ years of experience in the marine construction industry.
  • Familiarity with CWB.
  • Construction Knowledge: Exhibit proficiency in understanding construction documents, contracts, costs, and budgets.
  • Project Management: Demonstrate skills in scheduling and project management.
  • Design Interpretation: Possess the ability to read and interpret design drawings and specifications.
  • Preference for applicants currently holding or willing to obtain a valid OFA Level 3 First Aid Certificate (training sponsorship provided by the company).
  • Communication Skills: Cultivate clear communication and collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
  • Teamwork Promotion: Foster a spirit of teamwork among project teams and stakeholders.
  • Dispatch Experience: Have experience in dispatching personnel staff.
  • Organizational Skills: Exhibit strong organizational and planning abilities with an aptitude for managing multiple priorities.
  • Technical Proficiency: Be proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
  • Driver’s License: Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
