Learn more about the opportunities we create for students, employees, and our province at bowvalleycollege.caPosition SummaryFaculty in the School of Health and Wellness are responsible for providing instruction to learners; evaluating learner progress, contributing to the development of curriculum and instructional materials, and supporting learners in meeting the learning outcomes of their courses and programs.Candidates must be committed to effective teaching and demonstrate the ability to teach courses within the field of health care instruction in a broad range of settings. This includes but is not limited to teaching face to face; on-line; in blended delivery settings; synchronously via MS Teams, and in clinical settings.Position responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to:Provides Quality Instruction in Courses as Assigned
- Instructs courses as assigned (lab and/or clinical, primarily).
- Selects instructional strategies to meet learner needs.
- Creates lesson plans.
- Supports development and updating of curriculum, guides and rubrics as requested.
- Evaluates learner performance on an ongoing basis and provides learners and administrators with learner progress reports.
- Maintains official records as required.
- Facilitates learning within variety of settings.
Provides a Positive Learning Experience for Learners
- Supports learners navigating various challenges (for example: attendance; conduct, performance).
- Identifies areas of concern and refer to the Program Chair or Associate Dean if follow up is necessary.
- Refers learners to other institutional supports as required (for example: tutoring, counseling).
- Ensures that approved student accommodations are met when applicable (for example: reduced course load, vision impairments, hearing impairments, testing) as per individualized accommodation (IAP).
- Assists with process in scholarship and bursary awards.
- Participates in college and departmental events that promote learner success (for example: orientation, graduation).
- Creates an environment that includes the regional Educational Assistant’s as part of the learning team; during class time and pre/post class time.
Builds and Maintains Relationship with Internal and External Stakeholders and promote the Department and the College
- Keeps current regarding changes in best practice and adapts facilitation as required.
- Assists with articulation and transfer activity for learners as required.
- Meets with industry stakeholders and sit on Advisory Committees as required.
- Attends external community meetings.
- Participates in recruitment events as schedule permits.
- Maintains a networking relationship with employers of Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides.
Other Duties /Special Projects
- Follows College Policies and Procedures.
- Completes any professional development requirements (for example: D2L; Unit4 Student Module training, Instructional Skills Training, FOIP, Code of Conduct / Conflict of Interest training & declaration, Respectful Workplace training).
- Ability and willingness to participate in applied research.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications:
- Diploma in Nursing
- LPN or RN
- Meets government Practical Nurse facilitator requirements
- 4 years of current nursing experience in acute care
- CLPNA or CARNA Practice Permit without restriction
- CPR Health Care Provider Level
- Up to date immunization records
- Police Information Check including a vulnerable sector
- Ability to work to full scope of practice
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- If your education was received internationally we will require you provide an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire
This opening is a full time, TEMPORARY Faculty position, until June 2026.
