Canadian Blood Services is looking for a regular full-time Knowledge Mobilization Coordinator to join our dynamic Innovation and Portfolio Management team in our Medical Affairs and Innovation division.The Innovation and Portfolio Management team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services through surveillance, research, development, knowledge mobilization and fresh blood portfolio management.In this role, you will be a key member of the Knowledge Mobilization & Strategic Alliances team at Canadian Blood Services. You will support the team’s implementation of a knowledge mobilization strategy and be responsible for coordinating and contributing to knowledge mobilization and science communication activities. In this function, you will primarily facilitate the development and delivery of knowledge mobilization resources and events to support the impact of Canadian Blood Services’ research activities on transfusion medicine practice.Formula for success

  • Leveraging your excellent interpersonal skills and ability to prepare concise, clearly written content, you will support the development and updating of science communications and knowledge mobilization resources for key knowledge users (including members of the research and education network, research funders and stakeholders, and health-care professionals working in transfusion medicine) based on best practices in knowledge mobilization and science communications and according to identified needs.
  • Drawing on your ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines, you will lead the coordination of review and approval processes for knowledge mobilization and science communications resources to meet established procedures and timelines, as well as to ensure engagement of contributors.
  • Utilizing your excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently and coordinate multiple priorities and projects, you will lead the coordination of meeting activities and support the delivery of key knowledge mobilization events, including scheduling meetings, drafting discussion points, tracking progress on and implementing deliverables, and acting as the main point of contact.
  • Harnessing your strong communication skills and ability to create effective visuals, you will coordinate activities to promote dissemination of resources to target audiences, including contributions to relevant newsletters, blogs and social media content.
  • Focusing on your knowledge and expertise, you will contribute to the development of resources based on new and established templates and identified or emerging needs, such as research summaries, case studies, and blog posts.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a university degree in science, health sciences or health promotion.
  • Three years or more experience with knowledge mobilization methodologies and frameworks, implementation science and/or science communications is desired.
  • Knowledge of transfusion medicine and/or the Canadian biomedical/blood research landscape is an asset.
  • Skilled in preparing concise, clearly written content related to science or healthcare, adaptable to different target audiences and formats.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint), and with knowledge mobilization tools such as Articulate Rise 360 is an asset; proficiency using reference manager(s) is desired.
  • Ability to create effective and accurate visuals for medical and scientific audiences.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are essential. French skills would be considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
