This role collaborates regularly with internal teams and third party service providers to efficiently and effectively run the daily fund operations, while continually developing and enhancing operational processes.Accountabilities
- Oversight of the team ensuring operational tasks and responsibilities are completed accurately and in a timely manner. This includes fund and unitholder level reporting, data reconciliations, market openings and renewal documentation, dealer setups and onboarding, ongoing monitoring of service level agreements, vendor invoice reviews, and collaboration with the portfolio trading team with regards to settlements and cash movements.
- Identify, develop, and implement effective and efficient process or system improvements in order to strengthen daily core tasks and support business growth.
- Ongoing documentation of procedures in an ever changing environment, along with providing direction and training to the investment fund operations team on new or existing functions.
- Keen understanding of key mutual fund processes and department functions in order to effectively coordinate and provide backup coverage during team member absences.
- Partner with other ATBIM leaders to support a variety of strategic initiatives and projects, supporting future product development, as well as the implementation of tools and technology that enhance our investment management capabilities
- In partnership with ATBIM senior leadership, steers and drives the vision for the middle and back office.
- Provides effective leadership, direction, coaching and development of the investment fund operations team members, which includes setting individual objectives as well as ongoing check ins and quarterly performance reviews.
Skills, experience & requirements
- Post secondary education preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience, CSC or IFIC certification an asset
- Minimum 8-10 years of industry experience with 3-5 years of leadership experience
- Advanced understanding of operational processes and administration as it relates to Mutual Funds, ETFs, and Pooled Funds
- Ability to adapt well in different situations and balance competing projects and priorities, motivating and supporting team members to do the same
- Highly organized approach to work and ability to meet time sensitive deadlines
- Strong interpersonal communication (written and verbal) and listening skills
- Demonstrated ability to coach and motivate direct reports to achieve team and individual goals
- Proficient with technology (hardware and software) including the Google Suite and MS Word/Excel
- Prior experience with technology implementation considered an asset
