You are a creative, strong critical thinker who can tell compelling stories on multiple platforms: video, digital and audio. You will be expected to report breaking news and produce original journalism. You must demonstrate and maintain exceptional skills in writing about Manitoba issues in a clear and concise manner.In this role, you will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate and resonate with the communities we serve.Key tasks:Pitch, research, write and produce original story ideas for digital, radio and video programming that will engage and inform the audience, deepen our community connections and elevate a range of voices.Regularly present stories on-air, providing context to enhance the audience’s understanding of issues.Respond quickly to breaking news events as they unfold.Deliver exclusive and enterprise material on a regular basis.Distil large amounts of complex information under tight time constraints.Cultivate and develop working relationships with a large pool of sources and contacts.We are looking for a candidate with the following:Ability to generate, pitch and pursue strong, creative story ideas.Storyteller with a strong demonstrated connection to the diversity of Winnipeg and Manitoba.Strong desire to live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture.Working knowledge of video storytelling, including on-camera experience.Flexibility with hours of work and willingness to learn and take on new tasks across all CBC platforms.Sound news judgement and ability to work effectively under newsroom deadline pressure.Strong communication and interpersonal skills; strong team player.Ability to generate original, enterprise journalism.High energy and enthusiasm for journalism.University degree or equivalent with a minimum of two years relevant experience preferred.Ability to work a variety of shifts including early starts, late finishes and weekends.Please include additional documentation or a link to your online demo or website in your cover letter.Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the nextstep will be asked to complete a background check.
